Too much of a good thing?

I enjoy Dancing With the Stars as much as the next person, but do we really need three evenings and 4 hours worth of it as the season premeire? I think they could have easily included everyone with their pre-show rehersals and bios and such neatly into two hours and cut the results show to 1/2 hour. All of the silly little commentaries can go, in my opinion. I like watching for the dancing. Show more of that! Also, don't go to commercial after every little thing. On the flip side, I was able to switch and catch most of the good parts of some other shows while I was waiting for the good stuff. My current favorites: Helio and Jane.

Remember me?

Yea, it's been a long time, yadda, yadda.

Anyway, here are some highlights from the summer. I think if I just give the big stuff, I can get back into blogging again.

May 20 was 7 years for us.
July 22 was 30 years for me.

For our anniversary, we went to Peirponts at Union Station. The food was good, although I didn't realize how out of practice we are when it is just the two of us. We've been a family of three for 2 1/2 years now that it is hard to converse without talking of Katie. Maybe we should go on more dates!

I celebrated my 30th birthday with my family doing what I wanted to do. My husband, daughter and parents were patient enough and willing enough to drive me around to 5 different yarn shops. We started in Louisburg and ended up in Parkville. It was such a fun day! We went to breakfast in the morning and then started shopping. It was great and I got a lot of great yarns to create with. I found a lovely charcoal gray alpaca yarn that is so soft I just want to pet it all day. I think that was my favorite find from the day. The next day we added the rest of the gang and had dinner at The Bonefish Grill. Yummy!! The food and service were excellent but Katie wasn't having much of it. She was bored. We went to the bathroom on her request no less than 8 times during the meal. Only 2 of the times were successful. Mama was not pleased.

We got to Powell Gardens to see the butterfly exhibit again this year. This is the third year in a row that we have gone. It was quite hot, but we had a good time. Katie was enjoying looking at all the pretty colors of the butterflies on the flowers. If you ever get the chance to go, be sure to take it.

We celebrated Labor Day by cooking breakfast at the park. It was a good time until the allergies go the best of the medicine.

We are headed to Wichita on Friday for the weekend. My favorite knitting author is giving a talk/reading of her latest book at one of the high schools there. 3.5 hours in the car to get there-no problem!

So, if you don't hear anything from me for awhile, give me a holler and tell me to get busy!
