"Katie, what would you like for dinner?"

"DACK-amonicheese! Apple-auce!"

Yes, she speaks with exclamation points.

I'm zoomin'

I started a new project on Sunday and I'm already over half-way finished. I am making a new purse. I love the yarn! I'll post pictures when it's done, so stay tuned!

I play with a group from JCCC called JC Winds. We are currently preparing for our last concert as this group. It's kind of strange. I have been with the group since August, 2002. We play 2 concerts a semester and they are free! The group is sponsered currently through the school, but they are wanting to raise our continuing education tuition price considerably. So, other arrangements are in the works. We don't know what is coming, but we have seen this change coming for awhile. If you are interested, we will be playing on December 6 at 7:30 pm at the Carlson Center.

It's mom and dad

Katie has started really picking up on what others say. When I call up the stairs, I say Ben. Katie now is starting to call him Ben. It's cute, but that's daddy!

When we were getting the decorations and stuff done for Steve and Nicole's wedding, Katie was in the gym where the action was and was trying to get someone's attention. She was in the middle in the Pac'n'Play wanting someone to pick her up. So, people kept asking Frankie what to do with this or that. Katie had enough of being alone and yelled "FRANKIE!" Needless to say, everyone got a laugh and Katie got some attention.

Yesterday I went to pick her up. When I get there, all the kids say "hi Jen" when I walk in the door. Now so does Katie.

I'm glad she knows our names, but I still want to be called mama!

Little games, big ideas

My last post I asked for topics. Heidi suggested writing about what I pretended when I was little. So, here goes. Wow, this is kind of like when I was writing essays in high school. It's a little tough to just jump right in and start writing, but here goes.

When I was young, probably about 5 or so, I started having ideas about the Universe. Well, ideas that I can remember to this day anyway. I used to imagine that there were two parallel universes to ours. One was made up of giants. They mimmicked everything we did, exactly as we were doing it. Then, the other world was made up of little tiny humans about the size of ants. They also mimmicked everything. So, 5 year old me was looking in the mirror, pondering the existance of other worlds exactly like ours except bigger and smaller, thinking that the other worlds were thinking the same thing. So, we were just a bunch of parallel worlds all doing the exact same thing at the exact same time.

I realize that this may sound far-fetched to you, thinking there is no way a 5 year old would be thinking this. Granted, I know bigger words now, but it is true. At the time, there were ant worlds and giant worlds. I would think about this on the bus to school, but never told anyone until now.

Remind me to tell you about my de-ja-vu and premonition experiences too. Very odd.

I still somewhat believe that. I don't necessarily believe that the are other worlds doing the exact thing we are doing at this moment, but I do believe that somewhere there is someone or something. We may not find it in my lifetime, or Katie's for that matter, but some day other life will be discovered.

Then, of course for me, this leads to the start of the universe, which I will talk about another time. Oh-there is a good blog topic for a rainy day! That one is a hot debate and I would like to hear your ideas, but not today. My brain is too tired to tackle that right now.

So the second thing that I thought of was when I was young, not sure how old, but sometimes I got to take a bubble bath instead of a shower (or in addition to, not really sure. Since Dad always got us ready for school, shower it was). Well, when I had the bubble bath, I would always pretend I was saving all the bubbles from the monsters. I would push them all to one corner and they would pile up and get really tall, but they would be safe.

One other thing, my bedroom floor was lava and I had to get across it by stepping on the "rocks" that were scattered all over so I would get hurt.

Also, I had to sleep facing the nightlight so the witches wouldn't get me if I faced the dark wall. I still find it more comfortable sleeping in that same direction (on my stomach with my left cheek on the pillow), only now it's because the light isn't on that side. We sleep with our door open and the glow from the computer screen saver can be too bright if the office door is left open.

Okay, enough for tonight. Time to get some sleep.

This blogging stuff is weird for me. I was never one to keep a journal or diary growing up. I would be very good with writing for about a week and then nothing for months, often years. So, writing this many posts in this amount of time is like a new record for me. I find things in my life that I think oh, I should blog about that. Then, when I get a chance to do it, I can't find anything to write about. I think I'm just going through a slump with the creativity. So, what should I write? Give me a topic like we had in school where we had to write essays all the time. You can be my teachers, but don't grade me harshly! I'm a chemist after all. English wasn't really my strong point.

A big CONGRATULATIONS go out to Jim. He passed the bar exam! Woo Hoo to you!
